Margaret Andrews - Evolution of Management Education
Eduventures, based in Boston, has been wonderfully, wonderfully supportive of our efforts to hold Global Learn Day Ten. In addition to our deepest and most sincere thanks to Eduventures President, Tom Dretler, our audience will have the opportunity to hear from Margaret Andrews, Managing Vice President, Strategy and Marketing.
With this kind of background, it should be obvious that Margaret’s speaking engagement during Ten will address “the evolution of management education, including the current (and rising) criticism of the industry and its “product”, and some of the threats and opportunities in the market.”
Margaret will speak in the Canada/USA Region segment, Sunday afternoon, October 8. Her exact time will be posted here and on the Master Timetable.

Here’s more about Margaret
Margaret Andrews has extensive experience in the realm of management education, as a student in management, a university executive, and an executive in a firm devoted to improving the education industry. She is currently Managing Vice President of Strategy and Marketing at Eduventures (www.eduventures.com ), a research and consulting firm serving the education market.
Prior to joining Eduventures, Andrews led a turn-around of the MBA program at MIT Sloan, including revamping operations, enhancing marketing and publications, improving candidate screening and selection processes, launching a new curriculum, and enhancing career services. During her tenure, applications to MIT Sloan increased over forty percent within three years, student satisfaction increased dramatically, student employment figures were at or near the top in the industry, and rankings improved significantly. MIT Sloan’s Wall Street Journal ranking went from 38th to 9th, and the program recorded one of the fastest and largest upward climbs in the Business Week ranking, to the #4 position. When the Business Week editors were asked what it was that allowed MIT Sloan to achieve such a large jump, they responded, “It’s the Executive Director.” The Business Week Guide to the Best Business Schools, 7th edition, noted that “Everyone, from Schmalensee [the dean] to first-years, credits Andrews with the turnaround.” After managing the MBA program for several years, she was asked to reinvigorate several other areas in the school, including the Alumni Office, Marketing, and the MIT Sloan Management Review.
As a result of her work at MIT, Andrews is frequently quoted as an expert in the management education market, has spoken at numerous events and conferences and has been interviewed in the national and international media, including CNN, MSNBC, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The Boston Globe, Nikkei Business, The Financial Times, and The Times of India. She has been a guest columnist for The Economic Times Online (part of the Times of India), answering MBA applicant questions. Andrews is also on Advisory Board for Bottom Line, a nonprofit organization that works with disadvantaged youth to get them into college, graduate and go far in life.
Andrews hails from California and has an undergraduate degree in business administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. She is a graduate of the MIT Sloan MBA Program where she was named a Seley Scholar, the school’s highest honor. Andrews has also held positions at Putnam Investments, Mercer Management Consulting, and Deloitte & Touche, where she earned her CPA.
