Buthaina Al-Othman, from Abu Dhabi, by way of Beirut
Post GLD - Buthaina Al-Othman recording from GLD Ten. Listen here
Naturally, we are pleased and proud to feature a dozen or more luminaries as we make our way around the world. These men and women will be enormously helpful to increase our broadcasting reach; and that, we say, will help us meet the goal of the event: To increase access to affordable education worldwide. Having said that, if I were to make a small wager at this instant in time for which speaker — or speakers — would have the most impact, my wager would be on two women who hail from the Middle East.
The one we have known the longest is Buthaina Al-Othman who hails from one of the world’s most modern cities — Kuwait City, Kuwait.
Buth comes to us as one of those amazing Webheads — the kind who are using the ‘new tools’ to collaborate, investigate, motivate, provoke, galvanize.
All that is well and good. But it’s not the story that Buth plans to tell. What she will talk about is her recent time in Lebannon where she was a first hand witness to the agonies of the horrible conflict. This will not be easy for Buth; but I leave it for her to tell you how the war has affected her, has affected so many she calls family; or friends. (And, just maybe, Buth will be joined by a woman named Yasmina Ghaddar — but that’s a story we will talk about later.)
Let me share some links that Buth has sent me to share with you.

John, just wanted to note that I’m from Kuwait not UAE
By the way, I really like UAE; in fact I’m so impressed by the way the country has been developed in many ways and fields!
