Albert - From the Western Sahara

The point of Global Learn Day is to accelerate access to education worldwide. It’s people like Jeff Lebow and World Bridges that turn us on - because they do so much! Here’s some proof. Please meet Albert, from the Western Sahara.

Albert is a blind teacher operating out of refuge camp in the Western Sahara in a city I can’t find at mapquest. (Aaliun). What I can do is provide a map of the area, below; and, far, far more important point you to a conversation between Albert and Jeff that took place in June 2006. You really must take the time to listen to this amazing conversation! The direct link to two recordings can be found here.

Part One.

And Part Two.

Albert’s an amazing man, tough, smart, dedicated, innovative with a heart the size of the Sahara itself. Please, please listen to all of it!

Here’s the map
