Who do we seek? Why?

Who do we try to feature during Global Learn Day?

We seek those who can favorably and convincingly provide positive answers to any one of these three questions:

1. What are you doing in your part of the world to significantly improve access to learning?

2. What are you doing in your part of the world that is truly novel and is most likely to substantially increase the motivation of your students to learn?

3. What are you doing in your part of the world to broadcast and publicize your work?

Every once in a great while we hit the jackpot and get someone who is doing all three.

Why do we do it?

Our hope is that showcasing those doing exceptional work, and helping them broadcast that work as widely as possible — that all of this will accelerate access to education — and, in the end, make for a safer, saner world.

I don’t know whether I am succeeding in doing what you describe sooooooo wonderfully, John. My aim, at least, is that, despite, at times, difficult hurdles to overcome, such as it is “indifference” from colleagues on account of lame excuses like “lack of time”.
Yet, maybe still more than from broadcasting and showcasing the little IĀ“m doing I derive intense pleasure from “doing what I do”, seeing how my studentsĀ“ eyes and ears open widely to the real world, how every single day surprises me with a new challenge from a new friend I meet online, somebody I would have never had the chance to get to know had it not been for this amazing tool I am enjoying right now.

Cheers to your endeavour, you are a true pioneer, John!!

I am thrilled to discover what you are doing. This is a true meaning of globalization. Learn about what other parts of the world are like …. that is indeed a great learning experience, that Socrates would wish he is reborn at this age.

    Kudos!!!
