Phones - Rule One: Keep It Simple Stupid
Ten years ago we launched Global Learn Day. The hardest part? Making outgoing calls all over the world and then bridging the voices to a web streaming company (no longer in business). It’s a great story good for lots of laughts but the most important message learned then, and now, was: KISS-Keep It Simple Stupid.
We have never moved very far from the idea to use the cheapest, friendliest, most ubiquitous communication device ever invented - the Plain Ordinary Telephone Service, otherwise know as POTS.
Once more we will use POTS…made easy because those with Skype can call into our phone conference room for free; those using Vonage, like me, can call for pennies, those who know how to purchase cheap phone cards for calls to the United States can talk or listen for hours for less than a taxi ride to the nearby airport.

In the future, when you arrive at this blog, check on the box at the right under Categories. There you will find the word PHONES. Click that icon for posts about why POTS makes participation, either as listener or speaker as easy as your nearest (very ordinary) telephone.
