Jason Becker & Gabcast

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

It’s very rare for us to chase technology vendors; mostly it’s the other way around. But because we feel strongly that the ordinary telephone, to include cell and mobile phones, will remain a very important part of e-education, e-training and e-events and because we like what Jason Becker and his company, Gabcast, had to say, we are very pleased he will join us from Calgary, Canada. Bloodhoundsearch - A Personal Search Engine

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

I have been fascinated by the concept of Bloodhoundsearch Technologies - a “personal search engine”. It lead me to the thought that we might just be seeing the advent of something as important to the Web as was Netscape’s browser, and then the blog, and then RSS, and now? your own personal search engine? Please visit our brand new Portal we call Franklin e-learning. More important, please come back to it as it should get richer very soon. More later

Odeo Recording - Hibbs GLD8 Keynote

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

It’s hard for me to practice what I preach, but I managed to record my Opening remarks for Global Learn Day by way of Odeo’s phone-to-net recording system.

You can listen to the whole 13 minutes here. However, a better use of time might be to set up an account with Odeo and try the system for youself.

Broadcasting for the Blind

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

Not many know that my grandfather was blind. He was an exceptional man who made his living operating legal slot machines and tuning pianos, as independent as Ben Franklin and just as self reliant. He was an excellenter writer and many times reminded me that the typewriter was invented primarily to assist the blind. I was with him when Armstrong landed on the moon; and needed no reminder of how he lost his eyesight on a wagon train ride from Nebraska to Wyoming, age six. For reasons I can’t explain, I often feel he’s beside me on our GLD “voyages”. (more…)
